Product Hospital-Lite ™

Hospital-Lite ™

HOSPITAL-LITES ™ was developed to alleviate the liability problem hospitals have because of patient tripping incidents. A patient who is recovering from an operation can wake during the night and get out of bed to go to the bathroom. Because the room isn’t lit, the patient can trip and fall. In 2002, in the state of California, hospitals paid out over $50,000,000 for hip replacements at $12,000 each. TylerCo found that if the hospital room is lit, the trip factor is decreased. However, if the room lights are on all through the night so that tripping is minimized, the patient doesn’t get the sleep that is needed for recovery, and electricity is wasted. TylerCo’s HOSPITAL-LITES ™ lines the perimeter of the room just four inches off the floor. The light remains off until it is activated by the movement of the patient. The lights come on when the patient steps on the floor and go off when the patient gets back into bed.
